CareLiveUK Visit

Rob, Chris, Paula and I recently attended the CareLive Exhibition at Worcester Warriors Rugby Club

There were many interesting lectures along with many stands from suppliers or employers in the main room within the show – we certainly couldn’t get bored!

We were definitely grateful to find the odd moment to sit down and enjoy a pastry and try and take in some of what had gone on……

It was great to meet up with so many people working or managing a care service…. Or regulating them –
We met up with Andrea Gordon who is the new regional director with the recently formed Care quality commission (The CQC) this is now the regulatory body for all care services throughout England. She highlighted some issues and problems during the changeover from the old system, and that they would now be regulating primary care trusts also, I suppose this should create a level playing field but I think we all felt that the transition could have its problems. Andrea went some way to stopping us being unduly worried, she appeared to listen and absorb our questions and ideas.

We also had a Lecture from a guy on Dementia – who had been dropped in at the last minute! He did really well and we all took away something new that we had learned – which could make the difference – all new ideas are helpful in our understanding of our clients and indeed our Care Givers knowledge and skills, we feel will make us stand out from other providers and help us find new and innovative ways to continue to provide excellent service.
After a swift break for lunch we were entertained by a gentleman from Peninsula (Employment law – Scary!) and a lady Called Joy Kelly who discussed Quality assurance and though that can be quite dry subject we managed to keep alert….and listen!

There is really only so much one can take in over such an active and full day, perhaps next year’s exhibition will be over two days! So tired but armed with lots of new information, ideas and a few people to add to our networks! We took the quick drive back to our offices just on the outskirts of Worcester in the picturesque Village of Hallow………
And settled down for a brew to celebrate the days endeavor….
